The church of San Nicolas de Tolentino which is the patron saint of Cabatuan is neoclassic in style. It was built in 1834, it is the only church in Iloilo which once had three facades and six belfries but was repaired in later years due to earthquake that rocked mostly the Island of Panay.
The church which is Tuscan in style imposes heaviness and massiveness. You will immediately feel the solemnity of the place once you went inside and honestly it is one of the most beautiful altar I have seen so far among all other churches. The inside of the church is definitely worth to see. You get a view of statues of saints in front and with huge vintage chandelier hanging above. Outside, there are seats for people attending the mass, aside from the ones inside. I prefer siting outside because I can feel the fresh breeze of wind and I can see the trees that sways with it. I enjoy the mass better, and I can listen to the sermon well if I have a good environment around me.
This church has been my resting place. I can think better when I am here. When I am having troubles with my life I pray in the adoration chapel inside the church. I spoke to God about my problems and it really helped me to release the burdens inside my heart. Praying clears my mind and made me feel at ease. If you are finding for a place to relax your mind and want to have some private time with God, I recommend you to visit San Nicolas de Tolentino Church, and might as well pray and talk to God too.
